Wendy joined Dementia Jersey (then Jersey Alzheimer’s Association) in September 2018 as Community Education Co-ordinator, where she delivered awareness talks to various financial institutions, retail and utility companies, associations and meeting groups such as the WI. Wendy can deliver Dementia Friends Jersey sessions to a wide range of audiences across all age groups.
Dementia Jersey is such a worthwhile charity and I am proud to be part of the team helping to raise awareness and improve understanding of dementia throughout Jersey, thereby making Jersey a more dementia friendly island. I find it so rewarding meeting the many people who are interested in finding out more about dementia especially those who are wishing to make their businesses more dementia friendly. While my new roles is predominately office based, I will still be able to support the team who are in the community meeting members of the public and my previous experience in the Education role has given me vital experience which I can pass on to others within the Dementia Jersey team.
Wendy is a Vice President of the Band of the Island of Jersey, where she plays trombone. She also co-runs the Band of the Island of Jersey’s training band for people wanting the learn drums or a brass instrument, whatever their age.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren as well as pursuing craft projects such as embroidery and knitting.
