Dave grew up in Devon before undertaking his nurse training in Salisbury, Wilts in 1989 and has over 30 years’ experience working as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in hospital and community settings in both England and Jersey.
During this nursing career work has included supporting a wide range of care needs within Adult Mental Health, Learning Disability and Dementia Care services. Most recent employment has involved the registering, regulating, and monitoring of care services in Jersey.
I feel privileged to be able to work for a charity which has such a committed and highly motivated team including many volunteers directly supporting clients in the most practical and person-centred way. Over the past 30 years, I have worked closely with many people living with dementia and their families. I am now able to draw on this plus some personal experience to support people in a different way around an individual or family’s journey relating to Dementia .
When not walking and talking to his dog Riley, Dave spends a disproportionate amount of time at B&Q “planning” for DIY projects that are always much too large and impractical for the size of his home or garden. Outside of this an interest in travel usually involves walking holidays associated with wine tours whenever the opportunity arises!
