Thank you to everyone who got involved in Dementia Awareness Week.
The week started off with our Memory walk and whilst we had a couple of showers, the rainfall did not stop us; so much so we had extras turn up on the day so we ran out of t-shirts – result!
The first group from Santander started at 9am before the rest of our walkers came along and joined in with a total of 140 walkers and even a doggo from Ronceray care home!
(note all walkers without a t-shirt have one arriving in the post very shortly 🙂
All walkers received a medal at the end of the walk, some used the end point of St Aubins to grab a beer and lunch, others doubled the walk and returned to town – well done!
As we moved on to the working week, we had our purple stall set up at charring cross where our staff & volunteers were on hand to chat and to take donations. The wind came in strong and luckily for us the fantastic team at the Santander work Cafe jumped to our rescue and let us move our stall inside their Cafe, meaning whilst we spent the second half of the week indoors, we still had the opportunity to meet lots of people and attract lots of attention – Snowy the cat definitely raised a few eye brows and spurred on a lot of conversation with it’s meowing!
This was our best Dementia Awareness Week yet, resulting in 36 new Dementia Friends, 13 attended the LPA workshop (Hosted by Corbett Le Quesne), we have seen a noticeable increase in new calls to our charity and overall we raised (wait for it…. drum roll please…)
£10,000!
A huge thanks goes to all of the following businesses who got involved in various different ways, whether that be donating a prize, a display or letting us use your workplace, thanks to your efforts we managed to well & truly smash the fundraising target!
