Dementia awareness for schools

We can deliver a tailored dementia awareness session that will suit a variety of school audiences and age groups, from primary and secondary schools or further education and clubs.

Primary Schools Key stage 1 & 2

A short interactive talk all about dementia to help younger learners engage with this tricky and sensitive topic. Model brains, puppets and memory games help to illustrate some of the fundamentals of dementia in a fun way that is not overwhelming. Children can ask questions and receive a Dementia Jersey sticker at the end.

Secondary Schools Key stage 3 & 4

Older learners can take part in a shortened version of our interactive Dementia Friends programme which aims to change the way people think, act and talk about dementia. This 45-minute session includes interactive activities to help you learn ‘the 5 key messages on dementia’. With increased awareness and further understanding, local people can better support those living with dementia and make Jersey a dementia friendly island. All participants earn a Dementia Friends badge at the end. For more information on Dementia Friends click here.
